SAFE OPTIONS FOR CARE
THE M SHOT (Medical Shot):
This is a gentle way to end an early pregnancy using medication (the M shot and RU486 pill). It involves a combination of medications that help your body end the pregnancy safely.
This typically requires three office visits so we can closely monitor your progress. Our doctor will carefully review your health history and discuss whether this option is right for you.
MILFREX RU486 (Medication Pill):
This option provides a non-surgical alternative for ending an early pregnancy (4 to 10 weeks). You'll come to our clinic for one pill (Mifrex), then take more pills at home.
Within 24-48 hours, the medication will end the pregnancy and gently open the cervix. This can cause cramping and bleeding, which may range from light to heavy, with possible clots or tissue. It's best to plan a day off and have someone with you for support.
After 1-2 weeks, you'll have a follow-up appointment to ensure the pregnancy has ended successfully. In rare cases, further intervention may be needed, which could involve additional costs. Your well-being is our priority, and our compassionate team will support you throughout the process.
1ST TRIMESTER: (5-7 Minute Gentle Surgery)
This is a safe and compassionate option for ending a pregnancy between 4.5 and 13.6 weeks. Our skilled doctor will ensure your comfort by administering local anesthesia. The procedure typically lasts 5-7 minutes, and you'll be in the care of our experienced medical staff.
Plan for a 3-4 hour visit. We'll review your medical history, provide essential information, conduct necessary lab work, and perform an ultrasound to determine the best approach.
Before the procedure, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the doctor to discuss any concerns and receive personalized care. We prioritize your comfort and will provide medication to help you relax.
After the procedure, you'll spend time in our Recovery Room, where our staff will monitor you before you're discharged. We're committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment.
2nd TRIMESTER: (Gentle Surgery)
For patients up to 24 weeks, we offer a carefully designed process to prioritize your comfort and safety. This process typically takes two days to ensure your well-being.
On the first day, our team will gently insert sterile laminaria (thin sticks made from natural fibers). These will gradually expand over several hours to help dilate the uterus, making the procedure safer and more comfortable. You'll spend 4-8 hours in our clinic and return home in the evening. We'll provide a prescription for pain medication to manage any discomfort; please fill it promptly. Having a supportive friend is highly recommended.
The following day, you'll return to the clinic for the removal of the laminaria and the aspiration procedure. This process usually takes 4-8 hours. Arrange for someone to accompany you and drive you home afterward.
ARE YOU UNDER 18? If you're under 18, please talk to a trusted adult (parent, guardian, or friend over 18) about the procedure. They don't need to be present during the procedure, but we do need an emergency contact. It's also important to have a guardian stay with you overnight.
Our caring team is committed to providing you with the highest quality care, ensuring your comfort, and addressing any concerns you may have.
